What are competitiveness clusters ?
WHAT ARE COMPETITIVENESS CLUSTERS?
Competitiveness clusters are groups of small, medium and large companies, research laboratories and training institutions. They are located in well-identified areas and focus on specific themes, working in conjunction with national, regional and local authorities. Competitiveness clusters were created in 2004 as part of a new industrial policy in France, with the aim of generating employment by developing a more competitive economic dynamic.
WHAT IS THE MATERALIA CLUSTER ?
The Materalia competitiveness cluster brings together stakeholders in the Materials and Processes sector in the Greater East region of France.
Created at the initiative of the French government and the Greater East regional authorities, the cluster acts as an interface between the world of research and the industrial sphere to promote the economic development of the sector in this area.
THE STAKEHOLDERS
The Materials and Processes organisation is composed of 3 categories:

Laboratories, technical centres, universities and engineering schools

Urban communities, cities
THE MISSION: TO DEVELOP A SECTOR THROUGH INNOVATIVE AND COLLABORATIVE MARKET-ORIENTED PROJECTS.
The Materalia competitiveness cluster helps its members (companies, laboratories, technical centres and local authorities) to prepare "the industrialisation of their innovations in the field of materials, processes and products" to expand into new markets.

To his end, MATERALIA :
- Promotes and certifies collaborative projects, allowing access to public funding,
- Creates "Research-Enterprise" cooperation for its members thanks to its network of experts,
- Is involved in "Companies - Laboratories - Technical Centres" clusters on these themes.
Through the cluster's activities, several dozen SMEs, intermediate-sized companies and groups have already reaped tangible benefits in terms of qualified networking, project implementation and technical development monitoring.
