Aeronautics

Materalia promotes the regional development of a structured aeronautical subcontracting sector backed by academic excellence, and also organises working groups (seminars, workshops, meetings, etc.) in aeronautics technology.

To meet the challenges of air transport by 2050, aircraft manufacturers must improve propulsion systems, work to reduce the total weight of aircraft, control production and operating costs, integrate sensors to improve air traffic management, etc. Materials are at the heart of these strategic and economic challenges in the design and manufacture of turbo-machinery, aeronautical and space structures and components.

tHE CHALLENGES FOR COMPANIES IN MATERALIA'S SCOPE :

The responses to these various challenges will certainly make a difference to the future market share of engine manufacturers and aircraft equipment manufacturers. Materials and associated processes will be essential for the emergence of technological breakthroughs imposed by increasingly demanding specifications (dimensioning, environmental and market constraints).

ACTION TAKEN BY THE CLUSTER TO MEET ITS MANUFACTURERS' NEEDS :
  • Creating links with clusters, groups, IRTs and other federating research structures to initiate product or process development projects to serve the aeronautics market, and transfer monitoring elements from these different structures..
  • Creating and maintaining close partnerships with centres specialised in aeronautics in the support and labelling of FUI and ANR type projects, etc.

  • Ensuring a leading role by conducting operations (seminars, workshops, JTs, forums) with regional industrialists in conjunction with companies in the aeronautics sector, with the aim of improving their knowledge of the sector and facilitating the development of projects to open up or convert to the aeronautics markets.
  • Taking on the mission of operator for project start-ups, certifying them, co-ordinating the cluster and raising the awareness of the small and medium sized companies and intermediate sized companies specific to Materalia.
